28 locks allow you to navigate on the Blavet between Pontivy and Hennebont. They date from the 19th century and... still work very well today!
The passage of the locks? Don't worry. The lock operators are manoeuvring to get you through the lock easily.
Take advantage of it: once in the lock, you will be in the front row to watch the manipulations!
So, ready for an unusual stroll?
Le Blavet,” Ar Blavezh ” (“running water” in Breton) is a rather unknown and preserved river. It offers exceptional viewpoints and superb mirror effects. Attention lovers of suspended moments close to nature... From your boat, along the towpath, you will fully appreciate the landscapes, sounds and colors! Apart from the majestic birds of the river, gray herons and kingfishers and a few fishermen and cycle tourists, nothing should disturb your peace of mind!
Along the locks, the Blavet opens a charming path between the moors and reveals remarkable perspectives! Among the heritage treasures, the astonishing Saint Gildas Chapel nestled in the rock will not fail to surprise you. Back in Saint-Nicolas-des-Eaux, the Saint-Nicolas chapel is also worth a visit.
